The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced a three-year partnership in April 2026 to amplify the message that Movement is Medicine.
This partnership is:
- Creating opportunities for First Nations children and teens
- Advancing reconciliation
- Celebrating Anishinaabe and Dakota cultures
This collaboration includes:
- Community outreach initiatives
- Youth mentorship programs
- Cultural events that highlight the shared commitment towards inclusion, reconciliation, and community building
Representatives from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are travelling to 5 SCO Nations each year—reaching 15 communities over the 3-year partnership—to encourage healthy choices and highlight the message that movement is medicine.
Schools in these Nations are receiving flag football kits.
Children and youth are being inspired to help them ‘get in the game’ and increase their enjoyment of physical activity.
