The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is encouraging all Canadians to sign a petition calling on the federal government to:
- Provide long-term, stable funding to support the search for missing children and unmarked graves
- Continue funding for Survivor healing, cultural supports, and community-led wellness services
- Follow through on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
- Ensure this work is led by Indigenous people and centred on Survivors
Member of Parliament Leah Gazan sponsored this petition (e-7410)—it is open and accepting signatures.
Important programs that support our citizens—including mental wellness, cultural healing, and work related to missing children—are being reduced or may end, even though this work is not finished.
Now is the time to act.
SCO encourages leadership, Survivors, families, youth, and community members to sign and share this petition.
Every signature helps send a clear message:
✦ Our children, our Survivors, and our Nations will not be forgotten.
✦ Our healing is not optional.
✦ Our Treaty rights cannot be sunsetted.
