This knife sheath was donated to the Manitoba Museum in 2019 by Dr. Jack Steinbring. It was made by Agnes Swan (nee Traverse), sister of the Chief of Fisher River and who was married to George Swan of Black River. Agnes, who enjoyed beadwork and hooking rugs, made significant contributions to donor Dr. Steinbring’s research in the area, as she was extremely knowledgeable on local history and lore, dream experience, and artistic and craft work.

This carving was made by Elder William McPherson in the 1980s and was gifted to Dr. Jack Steinbring.
