Supporting Our Unhoused Relatives: Clothing Drive

December 2, 2022

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is hosting a clothing drive to support our unhoused relatives living in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The 2022 Winnipeg Street Census found that Indigenous people are vastly over-represented among people experiencing homelessness in Winnipeg—68% of the people surveyed were Indigenous. Nearly 9 out of 10 of Indigenous people experiencing homelessness live outdoors and are unsheltered.

Our hope is to offer a little extra comfort by accepting the following donations:

  • Bottled water
  • Gloves
  • Neck warmers
  • Scarves
  • Shoes
  • Toques
  • Track pants for any gender
  • Underwear: New underwear for all genders and in all sizes, especially sizes medium, large, and extra-large
  • Warm socks: New socks only please
  • Winter boots

We will provide all donations to N’Dinawemak: Our Relatives’ Place, a warming space at 190 Disraeli.

Donations can be dropped off at the SCO Winnipeg sub-office at 1572 Dublin Avenue during our business hours Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please note, we are closed for lunch from 12 to 1 pm.

SCO will be accepting donations until 4:30 pm on Friday, December 16, 2022.
