The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is proud to help First Nation citizens access important identification (ID) documents.
Our Status Card and ID Program is offering free support to renew, replace, or apply for a Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS) in Brandon.
Staff can also assist with applying for, or replacing, a Manitoba health card and/or a Manitoba birth certificate.
If you are a Survivor or a family member impacted by residential or day schools, or the Sixties Scoop, we can also help with the legal process of reclaiming your original birth name.
You can book an appointment to meet with a team member at 2B-136 11th Street in Brandon, Treaty Two Territory.
Appointments are available from Monday to Friday, between 9 am to 3:30 pm.

If you’re applying for a SCIS, you must have either of the following at the time of your appointment:
~a valid government-issued photo ID; or
~a Manitoba health card and a guarantor.
For anyone who is applying for a status card for the first time, you will need to have a Long Form Birth Certificates with the names of your parents listed.
