The Pathways to Healing Program at the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is pleased to offer events for Survivors and family members impacted by residential schools, day schools, the 60s Scoop, child welfare system, and the national emergency of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, two spirit, and gender-diverse people.

December 8: Beading workshop
SCO is hosting a free beading workshop in Winnipeg from 10 am to 2 pm on December 8.
Joanne Soldier will lead our group as we bead snowflakes and Christmas trees. We will share a lunch together, and bus tickets will be available to participants who need them.
This workshop is open to Survivors and family members impacted by residential schools, day schools, the 60s Scoop and child welfare system, and the national emergency of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, two spirit, and gender-diverse people.
Join us at 1555 St. James Street in Winnipeg. You can access the building by using the back door.

December 10: 60s Scoop Coffee and Bannock in Winnipeg
SCO invites Survivors of the 60s Scoop Survivors to a meet, greet, and share on Sunday, December 10, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
This time together will serve as a safe place for Survivors to be with others who understand their experiences.
We will share coffee and light snacks at Sargeant Tommy Prince Place at 90 Sinclair Street in Winnipeg.
An Elder and emotional support will be at the event, and bus tickets will be available for participants who may need them.
If you can’t attend in person, we will also hold a virtual 60s Scoop sharing circle on Monday, December 15, from 6 to 8 pm. Email us to receive a Zoom link to attend virtually.

December 12: Medicine Doll Workshop in Winnipeg
Survivors of residential schools are invited to attend a free Medicine Doll Workshop on December 12, 2023. It will run from 10 am to 3 pm and will include lunch.
Facilitated by SCO’s Pathways to Healing staff members, this workshop aims to support Survivors as they reclaim and acknowledge a lost part of their childhood. Some Survivors remember learning they had to leave their personal items at home. This workshop provides an opportunity to remember any dolls that Survivors had to leave behind when they were sent to attend residential schools.
The workshop will take place at 1555 St. James Street in Winnipeg. You can access the building by using the back door. Bus tickets will be available to participants.

December 14: Sharing circle in Brandon
SCO invites Survivors of the 60s Scoop Survivors to a sharing circle on December 14 at the Brandon Friendship Centre 60s Scoop Eagle Healing Lodge.
This time together will serve as a safe place for Survivors to be with others who understand their experiences.
If you can’t attend in person, we will also hold a virtual 60s Scoop sharing circle on Monday, December 18, from 6 to 8 pm. Email us to receive a Zoom link to attend virtually.
