SCO Seeks Visual Artist To Honour Survivors

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is seeking a visual artist to honour Survivors and those who are/have been impacted by the residential and day school system, the Sixties Scoop, and missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, two spirit, and gender-diverse (MMIWG2S+) people in Manitoba. The chosen artist will be commissioned to create the design of a mural. The goals of the project are to honour Survivors and the children who did not make it home, illustrate the realities that Survivors’ have faced, as well as highlight the resiliency of First Nation people.

  • Southern First Nation artists are invited to submit three samples of their previous work, as well as a completed application form.
  • The selected artist will receive $5000 and the opportunity to have their artwork displayed publicly in a prominent location in downtown Winnipeg.
  • Submissions must be made electronically via email to: pathwayshealing@scoinc.mb.ca  
  • The deadline for submissions is April 29, 2024.
