The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is about the respect and recognition of the human rights of Indigenous peoples. The federal government is working in consultation with First Nations to develop an action plan to achieve the objectives of the Declaration.
As such, the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is conducting community engagements to develop and communicate priorities for developing this action plan around three topic areas: water, citizenship, and gaming.
We invite southern Manitoba First Nation community members to join us on Zoom to share input based on community priorities and needs. Participants will receive an honourarium for participating.
The sessions take place as follows:
- Water (Monday, May 1 from 2:30 to 4 PM Central Time)
- Citizenship (Wednesday, May 3 from 2:30 to 4 PM Central Time)
- Gaming (Friday, May 5 from 2:30 to 4 PM Central Time)
