One Basin, One Governance Conference

Southern Chiefs’ Organization in partnership with Red River Basin Commission is pleased to announce the One Basin, One Governance Conference.

One Basin, One Governance is a three-day gathering held to discuss the sacredness of water, and the need to have all parties at the table to protect our shared waters

Southern Chiefs’ Organization and The Red River Basin Commission are pleased to invite all communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northern Ontario to participate in the One Basin, One Governance Conference, which will take place in Winnipeg on September 16-18, 2019.

One Basin, One Governance, is a three-day working conference, with the goal of creating a respectful dialogue and beginning communications with and between Indigenous communities in the Lake Winnipeg Basin. The conference will provide an opportunity to communicate and promote Indigenous culture and sacredness around water. It will endorse the importance of partnerships and collaborative governance, as well as the significance of meaningful consultation to Indigenous communities on water-related issues in their communities and the Lake Winnipeg Basin as a whole.
