Traditional Knowledge Subcommittee

The Traditional Knowledge (TK) subcommittee serves as an advisory body on the integration of Traditional Knowledge into the approach, development and delivery for SCO Health Transformation. Their main mandate is to ensure recommendations from the Elder/Knowledge Keepers Committee on ancestral and traditional ways of the Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations are an integral part of all components of a new Healthcare system.

Governance Subcommittee

Through an Anishinaabe and Dakota led approach, the purpose of the Governance subcommittee is to undertake a thorough and rigorous review of the potential governance models from a Treaty-based perspective. This includes the integration of recommendations from the following six- sub-committees: Data and Evaluation, Traditional Knowledge, Partnerships and Collaboration, Implementation and Communications. Through a review, recommendations will be made to the Chiefs Health Action Table.

Partnerships and Collaboration Subcommittee

The Partnerships and Collaboration subcommittee was established to provide advice and recommendations on the partnerships and collaboration needed for the development of an Agreement in principle and Framework Agreement leading to the establishment of a southern First Nations Health Authority.

Data and Evaluation Subcommittee

The Data and Evaluation subcommittee was established to serve as an advisory body on the development of a comprehensive data and evaluation plan for SCO Health Transformation and to develop OCAP informed, community controlled and self-determination compliant options to integrate data collection, storage and use into a new First Nations health system. The subcommittee was also created to ensure a community focused, culturally competent lens is applied to evaluative work to reflect the lived experience, the priorities and the desired outcomes of members of the southern 34 in a new First Nations health system.

Implementation Subcommittee

The Implementation subcommittee was established to plan and coordinate the implementation of a First Nation led Health system for the southern First Nations. This includes the integration of recommendations from the following 5 subcommittees: Data and Evaluation, Traditional Knowledge, Partnerships & Collaboration, Governance, and Communications. Its work includes planning, coordination, change management processes, co-management, implementation and transition to a new First Nation health system.

Communication Subcommittee

The Communication subcommittee was established to serve as an advisory body on the development of a comprehensive communication plan for SCO Health Transformation, This communication plan will pool recommendation from the following 5 subcommittees: Data and Evaluation, Traditional Knowledge, Partnerships & Collaboration, Governance,  and  Implementation. Foremost, the communication plan will focus on ensuring SCO Communities are fully informed followed by other internal and external audiences as well as the general public.
