SCO is a growing and dynamic regional First Nation organization that represents 33 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 87,000 citizens in what is now southern Manitoba. OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director Human Resources, the Human Resources Associate is responsible for providing HR support to the HR department.  This includes end to end talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and HR administrative support.  Will also assist with maintaining the recruitment database, Human Resource Management System (HRMS), and personnel files.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides assistance with human resource departmental processes.
  • End to end talent acquisition processes.
  • Prepares employment contracts and verification.
  • Onboarding Administration – Prepare and process new hire packages included HRMS data input, ensures pension/benefit forms are completed.
  • New hire orientation
  • Update employee information related to general payroll and time, benefits, promotions, salary adjustments, resignation/termination.
  • Employee Personnel Files – Assist in the maintenance of the personnel filing system digital/hard copies.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel records.
  • Maintains effective day-to-day contact with employees and management.
  • Answers employee questions and serves as an information resource to employees.
  • Conducts research, completes projects, and create reports and spreadsheets.
  • Responds to external and internal inquiries.
  • Receive and distribute all forms of HR communications.
  • Assist with regular research and compliance initiatives regarding Human Resources issues.
  • Keep accurate and complete records and forms of filed items.
  • Adhere to all applicable legislation such as the Human Rights Act, Labour Standards Act and Human Rights legislation.
  • Assist managers with job performance evaluations.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration and/or current experience in Human Resources, with a focus on HR Administration and end to end talent acquisition.
  • Minimum of three years working within an office environment
  • Experience providing administrative support directly in Human Resources
  • Experience working with a human resource management system.
  • Payroll knowledge is an asset.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and must be highly organized.
  • Attention to detail including proven ability to provide highly accurate data entry.
  • Adaptable and flexible with a demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to plan, balance and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in fast paced and competing priorities environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Superior organizational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and work accurately with detailed information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Functions effectively as a team member, demonstrating emotional stability and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments.
  • Excellent computer skills with direct experience in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Windows programs Word and Excel; experience in Human Resource Information Systems considered an asset.
  • Ability to speak Dakota or Anishinaabe language an asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
