COVID-19 Vaccination Eligibility for First Nation People Living Off Reserve

First Nation people living off reserve in Manitoba have access to the COVID-19 vaccine through the provincial supersites and are eligible for vaccination at a twenty-year differential with the rest of the province. For example, if the eligibility for the province is 73 years of age and older, that means First Nation people 53 years of age and older are eligible for vaccination.

There are regular announcements on updated age eligibility for vaccination. SCO and other First Nation organizations regularly share updated eligibility on our websites and social media channels.

The twenty-year differential was announced by First Nation public health experts at the beginning of February, 2021 to ensure equity, and it follows an evidence-based approach to address the disproportionately higher levels of risk experienced by First Nation people during this pandemic.

Book An Appointment:

You must book an appointment to be vaccinated. You can book online here for a provincial super site or you can call 1-844-626-8222 to book an appointment at a supersite or a pop-up clinic. You will be asked to self-identify as First Nations as part of the appointment-booking process. The call centre is open seven days a week from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Please note family members and caregivers can make an appointment on a loved one’s behalf.

There are currently five provincial vaccination supersites in Winnipeg, Brandon, Morden, Selkirk and Thompson. Pop-up clinics are being launched in Winnipeg, and in rural and Northern communities. You can find out if there is a pop-up clinic near you here or when you call to book your vaccination appointment.

Eligibility for AstraZeneca/Covishield:

As part of the piloted roll-out of the AstraZeneca/Covishield, First Nations people aged 30 to 64 with a high-risk condition are the first group eligible to receive the AstraZeneca/Covishield COVID-19 vaccine. People with high-risk conditions (as determined by their doctor or pharmacist) will be prioritized.
