Community Readiness Workers

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is hiring Community Readiness Workers to work with the following communities:

  • Birdtail Sioux
  • Canupawakapa
  • Long Plain
  • O-Chi-Chak-Ko Sipi
  • Peguis
  • Pine Creek
  • Roseau River
  • Sandy Bay
  • Skownan
  • Swan Lake
  • Tootinaowaziibeeng

Must be a resident of the community and must be able to start immediately.


  • Grade 12 Diploma


  • Report Directly to the Community Readiness Strategy Coordinator
  • Promote the Working Warriors program and Community Readiness Strategy to community members by hosting events, meeting with members, posting on social media, distributing information, etc.
  • Organize and Host Information Sessions to generate program awareness, excitement and participation
  • Interview Community members to obtain information regarding their skillset, education level, professional experience, certificates obtained, demographic, etc.
  • Actively source and collect data while continually promoting initiative to new members
  • Input resume & data obtained from community and members
  • Input local businesses into business directory
  • Monitor and maintain data collection process from new registrants
  • Follow up with new registrants if profiles are not complete
  • Keep community members profiles and contact information up to date
  • Review progress and submit updates and reports to management team on a weekly basis


  • Must be between the ages of 15 – 30
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
  • Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous histories and cultural practices, customs and traditions.
  • An organized approach and excellent time management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Computer literacy and good typing skills
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and able to travel (minimal travel required)
